June’s Guest Speaker: Mark Leslie Lefebvre

Join us on Thursday, June 18 for our monthly meeting and guest speaker, Mark Leslie Lefebvre. Mark will present “The Struggle To Be Seen And Your Allies In This Ongoing Challenge”

Every author who has ever felt like they were shouting into the void is not wrong. Statistically speaking, most of the world has never heard of you or your books. Even authors with decades of work and hundreds of thousands of readers behind them remain, to the vast majority of potential readers, completely unknown. It’s simply the nature of the landscape every writer navigates, no matter where they are in their career. But here’s the truth that often gets lost in the noise of marketing advice and platform strategies: you were never meant to fight this battle alone.

This session by book industry veteran and author Mark Leslie Lefebvre explores the full ecosystem of allies available to every author—fellow writers, editors, designers, publishing organizations and creative communities, online and brick-and-mortar booksellers, and the librarians and library staff who place your work in the hands of readers who may never have found you otherwise.

Mark Leslie Lefebvre is an author, speaker, and publishing industry veteran with over thirty years of experience as a bookseller, author advocate, and digital publishing pioneer. He launched Kobo Writing Life, serves as Director of Business Development at Draft2Digital, and is a former president of the Canadian Booksellers Association.
