April’s Guest Speaker: Lorna Poplak
Toronto SinC Members are invited to join us on Thursday, April 16 for our monthly meeting and guest speaker. Lorna Poplak will discuss her author journey and the development of her latest nonfiction book, On the Lam: Great (and Not So Great) Escapes from Prison. A work of nonfiction, the book explores the age-old tug-of-war between prisons struggling to keep inmates inside and escapees desperate to get out.
Lorna Poplak is a Toronto-based writer, editor, and researcher with a fascination for the dark side of history. She is a member of Crime Writers of Canada, Sisters in Crime, and Mesdames of Mayhem. Her three true crime books are Drop Dead: A Horrible History of Hanging in Canada, The Don: The Story of Toronto’s Infamous Jail, and On the Lam: Great (and Not So Great) Escapes from Prison. The Don was shortlisted for both the Crime Writers of Canada Excellence Award and the Heritage Toronto Book Award.
